Men's basketball loses to Fisher in first round of Brodie Tournament

Tigers blow 22-point second half lead

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (2-5) men's basketbll team led by 22-points in the second half and lost to Fisher College (Mass.) 69-68 in the first round of the 24th Annual Harold J. Brodie Tournament on Saturday night. The Tigers will face Worcester State in the consolation game on Sunday afternoon at 1 pm. Fisher will face SUNY Fredonia in the championship game at 3 pm.

The Tigers led 61-39 with 15:33 to play in the second half and looked to have the game well in hand. Scott Young (Almond, NY/Hornell) drained his third three-pointer of to open the second half, giving RIT their largest lead of the ball game. The Tigers went cold from that point on going a little over five minutes without a field goal, scoring seven points over the final 15 minutes.

The Falcons responded with a 30-7 run, taking their first lead since very early in the first half on a layup by Ryan Henry. Oscar Brown scored 11 of his 15 points in the second half for Fisher, keying the Falcons second-half run. Louis Williams scored 13 of his game-high 19 points in the second half.

RIT shot 37.1% from the floor, including 23.5% in the second half. The Tigers were out-rebounded by the Falcons 43-38 and committed 13 turnovers.

Scott Young (Almond, NY/Hornell) led RIT with 18 points, 10 coming in the second half. Anthony Terry (Rochester, NY/Bishop Kearney) had 14 points and Brendan Harder (Oneonta, NY/Oneonta) added eight points and eight rebounds. RJ Kalb (Rochester, NY/Greece Athena) had eight points and four rebounds off the bench and Marcus Lowe (Anchorage, AK/Service) had four points, eight rebounds, six assists and three steals.
