HIGHLAND HILLS, OHIO -- The men's cross country team ended their season at the NCAA Championship meet at Highland Hills Golf Course. The team finished 31st overall out of 32 teams. The muddy 8,000 meter course was anything but easy and many top runners struggled to finish the course.
Last year's defending champion Peter Kosgei of Hamilton led the first half of the race but ended up dropping off, struggling to finish and place 43rd individually.
For the tigers, senior
Mike Brindak (Syracuse, NY/Solvay) was first, placing 103rd overall in a time of 26:45. Seniors
Mike Hardbarger (Parkersburg, WV/Ritchie County) and
Nick Meeker (Hamburg, NJ/Wallkill Valley) were 166th and 183th respectively. Hardbarger finished the course in 27:13 with Meeker close behind in 27:23. Sophomore
Mike Kurvach (Victor, NY/Victor) was 204th in the race and fourth for the team. Kurvach finished with a time of 27:37.
Jared Burdick (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) rounded out the scoring positions for RIT completing the course in 27:55.2, securing him the 235th spot.
The other two team members who raced were junior
Zach Miller (Ironville, PA/Hempfield) and senior
Nick Lowe (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport). Miller came in 237th and was right behind Burdick with a time of 27:55.8. Lowe finished the race with a time of 28:35 and placed 260th.
Coach Dave Warth was pleased with the way that the team raced and believes that the successes that they saw during the cross country season will transition into the indoor track season.
