Women's cross country places second at Empire 8 championships; three Tigers earn All-Conference honors

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The RIT women's cross country team placed second at the 2009 Empire 8 cross country championships held at Saratoga Springs State Park. The Tigers finished second out of seven teams with a team score of 48 points. RIT finished 27 points behind champion Ithaca College.
Jouhan Allende (Saco, ME/Thornton Academy) was RIT's top performer, placing second overall. She finished the 5k course in a time of 18:23.65 and earned Empire 8 first team honors.
Abby Aker (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) was fifth overall finishing in a time of 18:58.24. She was RIT's second Empire 8 first team selection.
Anna Guthrie (Essex Junction, VT/Essex) earned Empire 8 second-team honors for RIT, placing 11th overall in a time of 19:21.00.
Arielle Januszkiewicz (Amherst, NY/Amherst) placed 16th for RIT in a time of 19:37.75.
Kate Dubuisson (Winston Salem, NC/Mount Tabor) was 20th overall, finishing in a time of 19:51.72.
RIT is off next week in preparation for the NCAA Regional Championships. The race runs on Saturday, November 14 at Letchworth State Park.
