ROCHESTER, NY - Sophomore Amanda Berg (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) (Mendham, NJ/Mendham) of the RIT women's tennis team, was named the Empire 8 Women's Tennis Player of the Week on Monday for the week ending September 28, 2008.  It is Berg's third time she has earned this honor in 2008.

Berg went 5-1 during the week with wins at first singles in dual matches over Elmira and Geneseo and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2008 ITA Championships at William Smith.  Berg is now 11-2 on the season.  She teammed with Brianne Francisco (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) to go 3-1 at doubles.  That duo is now 9-2. 

The Tigers are back in action on Wednesday at Alfred University.  The match begins at 3:30 p.m.
