Women's Cross Country Ends 2008 Season With 17th Place Finish at Atlantic Regional Meet

CANTON, NY --
The RIT women's cross country team ended its 2008 season by finishing 17th out of 30 teams at the Atlantic Regional Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University in the slop on Satutrday afternoon.  The Tigers finished with a team score of 486 points.

SUNY Geneseo won the team title with 64 points.  Wendy Pavlas of St. Lawrence was the top individual runner, completing the course in 22:31.3

Freshman Erin LaFave (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser) (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser) was RIT's top finisher, placing 66th overall out of 218 runners, completing the 6,000-meter course in 25:14.4.

Sophomore Abby Aker (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford)was RIT's second highest finisher, placing 86th overall with a time of 25:40.9.   Junior Samantha Hawn (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Rochester, NY/Spencerport) was 11 seconds behind Aker, finishing 95th.

Emily Clark (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) placed 116th in a time of 26:29.8, while sophomore Arielle Januszkiewicz (Amherst, NY/Amherst) (Amherst, NY/Amherst) finished 123rd overall in a time of 26:39.5 to round out RIT's top-five.  Jillian Putney (Dansville, NY/Dansville) (Dansville, NY/Dansville) and Nicole Varble (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) also competed for RIT, finishing 139th and 161st, respectively.
