MT. MORRIS, NY - The RIT women's cross country team recorded an impressive fourth place finish out of 17 teams at the SUNY Geneseo Invitational at Letchworth State Park on Satutrday afternoon. The Tigers finished with a team score of 100 points,
SUNY Geneseo won the team title with 38 points, having three of the top-four finishers. SUNY Plattsburgh and University of Rochester finished just ahead of RIT.
Freshman #
Erin LaFave (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser)# (Troy, MI/Bloomfield Hills Lahser) raced tremendously for RIT, placing sixth overall out of 199 runners with a time of 23:06.7 over the 6,000-meter course. Sophomore
Arielle Januszkiewicz (Amherst, NY/Amherst) (Amherst, NY/Amherst) was ninth in a time of 23:35.8. Junior
Samantha Hawn (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) and
Abby Aker (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) (Chelmsford, MA/Chelmsford) were 28th and 29th, respectively, both finishing in 24:23. Hawn was six-tenths of a second faster than Aker.
Senior
Emily Clark (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) (Brant, NY/Lake Shore) rounded out RIT's top-five, placing 45th overall in 25:04.8.
The Tigers are back in action on Saturday, October 18, as they compete at the SUNY Albany Invitational. The race begins at 11 a.m.
