ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT men's swimming and diving squad picked up its first win of the 2008-09 season, defeating SUNY Oswego, 145.50-95.50 at the Judson Pool on Tuesday evening. RIT won six single events and both relay races.
The Tigers opened the evening with a win in the 200-yard medley relay.
Kevin Christiansen (Penfield, NY/Penfield), #
AJ Broderick (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville)# (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville), Greg Pilgrim (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) (Alfred, NY/Alfred-Almond) and Ryan Marchant (Norwich, NY/Norwich) (Norwich, NY/Norwich) were victorious in 1:42.04.
Steve Rois (Amherst, NY/Amherst) (Amherst, NY/Amherst) and Broderick each won a pair of individual races to lead the way for RIT.
Rois was victorious in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events. He won the 200- in 1:49.18 and 500- in 5:08.44. Broderick took the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:03.93 and 200-yard individual medley in 2:05.52.
Junior
Greg Pilgrim (Almond, NY/Alfred-Almond) (Alfred, NY/Alfred-Almond) annexed the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 56.79 seconds.
Christiansen won the 100-yard backstroke in 56.79 seconds.
Senior
Phil Baudoin (Blacksburg, VA/Blacksburg) (Blacksburg, VA/Blacksburg), along with Rois, Casey Schneider (Grandville, MI/Grandville) (Grandville, MI/Grandville) and
Casey Burns (Kings Ferry, NY/Southern Cayuga) (Kings Ferry, NY/Southern Cayuga) ended the evening by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay in a time of 3:28.18.
The Tigers return to the pool on Saturday, as they travel to SUNY Fredonia for a dual meet, beginning at 1 p.m.
