BUFFALO, NY -- The RIT men's cross country team opened the 2004 season at the Daniel Walker Invitational hosted by Buffalo State at Beaver Island Park. The tigers placed fifth out of eight teams with a team score of 115.
"We didn't scare anyone today," said head coach Dave Warth. "However, this team is going to improve throughout the season and may contend for a qualifying spot in the NCAA Championships."
RIT was led by junior Jesse Williamson (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./FDR) who placed 10th in a time of 27:32. Junior Diego Grisales (Medelin, COLOMBIA/Idem Merceditas Gomez Martinez) was 15th with a time of 27:52. Sophomore Nate Lowe (Rochester, N.Y./Spencerport) came home in 23rd place with a time of 28:17.
The Tigers will host Rochester and Fredonia this coming Saturday at 1 p.m.
