ROCHESTER, NY – Dave Warth, now in his 12th season as head coach of the RIT men’s and women’s cross country teams, was named Empire 8 Coach of the Year on Oct. 31. This marks Warth’s second time receiving Coach of the Year honors. In 2005, Warth also received the Atlantic Region Indoor Track Women’s Coach of the Year Award.

ROCHESTER, NY – Senior Jared Burdick (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) was named Empire 8 Runner of the Year after finishing first in the Empire 8 Men’s Cross Country Championship, which was held in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Burdick finished the eight-kilometer course in 25:34.15, nearly 30 seconds faster than Mike Brindak (Syracuse, NY/Solvay), who took second-place.

CLEVELAND, OH - For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Jillian Putney (Dansville, NY/Dansville) and I’m a third year new media marketing major. I’m on the RIT women’s cross country and track and field teams, and also work in the Sports Information Office. Since our team is practically a family, a group of us left Rochester on Friday, Nov. 20, and ventured to Cleveland to cheer on the men’s team and one of the girls, Jouhan “Jojo” Allende, who qualified for the NCAA Championships, and would race the next day.
